Frequently
Asked Questions

When can I expect to be certified?

The SUD program is at your own pace, so your timeline to certification will vary. There are 6 courses (10 weeks each, at 45hrs of study per week) + practicum (10 weeks) for a combined total of 70 weeks to be eligible for certification. Students typically take a little over a year to reach certification eligibility.

Can I complete the coursework in my own time?

Absolutely! Since our courses are fully online, you have the flexibility to complete your training when it suits you. Just remember to meet all the deadlines for assignments and discussions as outlined in each course syllabus. This flexibility makes our program a great fit for those balancing work, family, and other commitments alongside their studies.

What if I need to miss a class?

Our courses do not always run in sequential order, and we often run two different courses concurrently. If you're unable to attend a class, you can enroll in the next class when it's offered according to our schedule. We also have a two-week break during the winter holiday season. Check out our current class schedule for more details.

Do I need to purchase any books?

All our SUD courses are fully online through our e-learning platform, and the curriculum includes weekly readings, videos, presentations, and discussion boards. We provide downloadable materials and links to online resources for each module, eliminating the need to purchase any books.

Are there any payment plan options available?

Yes, we offer the Easy Pay program a payment plan for students who prefer to spread out the cost. The Easy Pay program offers students the convenience of pre-authorized monthly payments, with half of the total course tuition at registration and the remaining half midway through the course View Terms.

How can I become a certified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) counselor?

Recovery Academy is undergoing certification partnerships with CCAPP and CADTP, both authorized to provide SUD counselor certification. To qualify for the certification exam, both organizations require 315 hours of academic coursework. Our online school offers six classes and a practicum that fulfill this requirement and prepares students for the AOD certification exams.

Do you offer flexible admission periods?

Yes, we offer a 'Rolling Admission' policy. This means you can start our program at any time that suits your schedule. Whether you're ready to begin today, tomorrow, next month, or even next year, we're here to accommodate your needs. You can start your journey towards a better career the very next day after you contact us.

Who are the instructors at your academy?

Our program prides itself on employing instructors who are currently active in the workforce. This ensures that the lesson plans include the most recent and relevant information, and the instructors can relate the curriculum back to their real-world experiences. They can also provide valuable professional advice to students.

How accessible are the instructors?

Our dedicated and experienced instructors are available to assist students every day. They can be reached via email 24/7, promising a 24-hour turnaround time for responses. Instructors are also available for phone appointments. Furthermore, we have a "General Questions" discussion forum where students can post their queries regarding assignments or course concerns and receive a response within 24 hours.
